» » » » » ENSSURE Project Managers and Stakeholders from Nepal Embark on an Apprenticeship Training and Socio-Cultural Exposure Trip to the Philippines

The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) hosted eight officers from the ENSSURE (Enhance Skills for Sustainable and Rewarding Employment) Project in Nepal for a 5-day Apprenticeship Training and Socio-Cultural Exposure Trip from November 25-December 1, 2018. The program was supervised by the Director General, Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane and coordinated by the Projects and Consultancy Division Officer, Ms. Arlene Cruz.

The delegation, accompanied by Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane, in their visit to the Enderun Colleges in Taguig City. Philippines The visit was organized to enable the participants to observe and learn about TVET in the Philippines and the methods that private and public TVET institutions employ in handling their operations, especially relating to apprenticeship and on-the-job training, and how they facilitate system of workers’ further training.

In addition, the training enabled them to observe and assess the critical areas of work-based learning in the Philippines; gain insights on and learn about the tripartite work process (industry, implementing agency, and apprentices) in apprenticeship model; and identify best practices in work-based learning and adapt these practices in the context of Nepal.

During their five-day stay in the Philippines, they were able to visit some key industries in the field of apprenticeship including the central office of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Don Bosco Technical Institute, Hotel H20, Emilio Aguinaldo College, Dilates Training Center, Toyota Motors Philippines Corporation, Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Enderun Colleges. They visited some of the tourist sites in Manila, including Intramuros and Rizal Park, as well as some of the beautiful beaches in the nearby province of Batangas.
