On Tuesday, August 15, 2018, The Republic of India celebrate its 72nd Independence Day to commemorate the declaration of Indian independence from Britain on 15 August 1947.
CPSC remembers its Indian brothers and sisters on this very auspicious and important day and joins in its celebrations.

Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati started the greatness of the first freedom struggle of 1857 and Mangal Pandey gave his life to Bharat Mata and the spark turned into a Mahasangram, which included: Rani Lakshmibai, Tatya Tope, Nana Saheb of Jhansi, Ramprasad Bismil, Ashfaq, Chandrasekhar Azad, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev etc. for the country, martyr for ‘Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna’ Have become. Tilak lent his leniency to Swaraj’s and Subhash Chandra Bose said, “Give me blood, I will give you freedom.”
At Midnight on August 15, 1947, Jawaharlal Nehru declared India as an independent country, where he delivered the speech “Trieste Destiny”. During his speech, he said,
“When the world sleeps at the touch of the midnight hour, India will wake up to life and freedom. Today we ended our misfortune, and India again searched for itself.”
After this, the Assembly members vowed to give their services to the country with full integrity. Officially the National Flag was presented to the Assembly. So India became officially an independent country and Nehru and Viceroy Lord Mountbatten, respectively, became Prime Minister and Governor General. Mahatma Gandhi was not involved in this celebration. He stayed in Calcutta and kept a 24-hour fast for promoting peace among Hindus and Muslims. See Details: History of India
Independence Day Celebration
Happiness spreads around the day when the Independence Day approaches. All major government buildings are decorated with lights. The tricolor flag is hoisted on houses and other buildings. Independence Day, August 15 is a national holiday, the holiday of this day should be commemorated by remembering the sacrifices made by brave freedom fighters to every citizen. A week before Independence Day, the spirit of patriotism is encouraged by organizing special events and programs. Programs related to this topic are broadcast on radio stations and television channels. Films about martyr’s stories are shown and stories and reports related to national sentiment are published.
At 8 pm, the President sends messages to his countrymen, which is broadcast on radio and television.
After paying tribute to freedom fighters and leaders of the Indian Independence Movement who sacrificed their lives, Prime Minister of India will deliver his speech on Independence Day mentioning the achievements of last year, important social issues and their solution, further development of the country, education Etc. are underlined. Grand March is done by Paramilitary Forces and Indian soldiers. Independence Day is celebrated in different states of different cultural traditions where the Chief Minister of every state hovers the national flag Almost all government and non-government institutions, educational institutes, some private institutions, including the flag hoisting, national anthem, parade ceremonies and other cultural programs are all over the country. The flag is hoisted by the Principal in schools and colleges and then the parade and cultural program are further extended by the students there. On this day, government offices, buildings etc. are decorated with lights, flowers and other decorative objects. People display their dedication and commitment towards the country through different lengths of flags.
During the celebration of Independence Day, some areas are declared a “no fly zone” to avoid air strikes on this occasion. Additional security forces are engaged throughout the country to ensure the security. This program is broadcast live on television for the people of the entire country. People celebrate this occasion by watching movies with their friends, family. On this day children take the tricolor in their hands and put ‘Jai Jawan Jai Jai Kisan’ and other famous slogans.
