» » » Bangladesh Education Ministry Secretary, Key TVET Officials Affirm Ties with CPSC

Thirteen (13) officials from various government agencies and projects of the Bangladesh Education system were in Manila for a 5-day learning visit and exposure on the implementation of the Philippine Qualification Framework (PQF). They were composed of proposed members of the National Steering Committee of the Bangladesh Qualification Framework (BQF) and leaders of National Quality Assurance and Accreditation System (NQAAS) and they planned to visit the Philippines from July 22-27, 2018 and Malaysia from July 28- August 2, 2018.

Notable officials in the delegation include the Secretary of the Technical and Madrasah Education Division (TMED) of the Bangladesh Ministry of Education, Mr. Md. Alamgir and the Director General of the Directorate of Technical Education, Mr. Ashoke Kumar Biswas. In their capacity, they were able to facilitate CPSC’s numerous engagements in Bangladesh through the years.

Other members of the delegation include:

  1. Mr. A. K. M. Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan, Additional Secretary for Administration and Development, TMED, Ministry of Education.
  2. Mr. Ahmed Shamim Al Razi, Joint Secretary for Audit, Secondary and Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education.
  3. Dr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Chairman of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB)
  4. Md. Tazul Isla, Additional Director General of the Bureau of Manpower Employment and Training (BMET)
  5. Dr. Durga Rani Sarker, Additional Director of the University Grants Commission (UGC)
  6. Mr. Md. Quamruzzaman, Deputy Director (Principal), Nation Skills Development Council
  7. Dr. Prabir Kumar Bhattcharjee, Deputy Director (College-1) of the Government College Section, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education (DSHE)
  8. Mr. Joha Jamilur Rahman, Training Coordinator of the Bangladesh Employers' Federation
  9. Mr. Pulak Ranjan Dhar, Member of the National Coordination Committee for Workers Education
  10. Mr. Snehal V Soneji Chief Technical Advisor of the Skills 21 Project
  11. Md. Serajul Islam, Program Officer of the Skills 21 Project

The delegation was officially received by the CPSC team led by its Director General, Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane through a program held on July 27, 2018. During their visit, they observed the processes that TVET and education institutions adopt in organizing and managing education and training programs. They were also able to understand CPSC’s role in the development and implementation of qualification frameworks in the Philippines and CPSC member states. They were also able to learn about the steps that TVET and education institutions undertake with regard to institutional self-assessment and other related activities through a brief presentation about the Asia-Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC).

In addition, they also visited the National Coordinating Council of the Philippine Qualification System (PQF), Lyceum University, Commission of Higher Education (CHED) Philippines and the Technical and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). These visits enabled them to gather experience on how the education institutions in the country are delivering curriculum to meet the needs of employers. They also described the ways in which TVET/Education Institutions collaborate with their partners’ industrial attachment, job placement, and other matters focused on enhancing the graduates’ employability.
