Author: Ramhari Lamichhane, PhD

The presentation tackles the different perspectives on social development and economic development and the way that TVET contributes to both. It starts with a discussion regarding the importance to discern between social and economic development to further address the needs of its target market and formulate new ways to effectively transform those ideas into policies that will specifically address the needs of a particular country. It also enumerated the different characteristics that will further aid in distinguishing one from the other.

The presentation also tackles the role of TVET in enhancing productivity, thus contributing to economic development; and enhancing the skills and education of the trainees and thus contributing to social development. It further delves into the idea that TVET is the "master key" that will unlock the strategies to address poverty. The presentation concludes that TVET is not only a path or an option for education but it contributes to the betterment of the society by significantly improving both the social and economic standards of a particular country.
