» » CPSC Welcomes Benchmarking Activity of CHMSC on CPSC’s Innovative Blended Learning System

The need to keep up with the fast-paced technologies in the knowledge era has been the concern of many institutions as they strive for greater heights. It presents a significant advantage and benefits to the trainees in terms of being equipped with the necessary employable skills that are crucial in today’s world. CPSC, in its aim to be the lead organization for sustainable TVET that is inclusive, responsive and innovative to address global changes is constantly reinventing itself through the adoption of relevant ICT technologies, as well as spreading TVET knowledge through training and benchmarking.

In view of such mission, CPSC warmly welcomed five members of the Alijis, Bacolod City campus of the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) who are conducting benchmarking activity at CPSC for their planned Blended Learning Project for the different campuses of the CHMSC system slated from March 5 to 7, 2014.

Dr. Renato Sorolla, currently the President of the CHMSC system and formerly CPSC Faculty Specialist sent his team to CPSC to learn about teaching and learning systems and benchmark on its innovative ICT practices. Led by the Executive Director, Engr. Albert Joseph Gonzalo M. Monge, the team is composed of: Engr. Ronald John Sayson (Dean, Institute of Information Technology), Mr. Ryan dela Gente (Project Leader, Blended Learning), Engr. Manuel A. Uy (Vice-Chairman, Blended Learning) and Mr. Jose Naldrix Rivera (System Developer, Blended Learning).

CPSC showcased its facilities and best practices in integrating ICT in TVET education particularly the On-COURSE or the Online Course Ubiquitous Realtime System of Education (formerly named Web-based Teaching and Learning System or WBTLS). Started as WBTLS way back in 2009, On-Course has been utilized by the College in conducting its programs and training conducted in the Philippines and the rest of the member countries. This innovation has been adopted in all CPSC training programs and has been proven efficient in managing TVET lectures and training, and based on the feedbacks of the stakeholders, it has further provided them with additional knowledge in adopting to the demands of the present knowledge era.

Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, CPSC Director General in his remarks during the simple welcome ceremony held March 5, conveyed his pleasure in welcoming the benchmarking activity of CHMSC at CPSC. He said that he is delighted to be able to share innovations of CPSC most especially in its teaching and learning systems, not to mention sharing these to nonetheless than CPSC alumni Dr. Sorolla who has been emulating and advocating CPSC practices like the CPSC green campus since he became President of CHMSC.

Engr. Gonzalo, on the other hand, expressed his gratitude to CPSC on behalf of Dr. Sorolla. He said that Dr. Sorolla encouraged them to go out of the campus and learn new tools in teaching and learning that would further enhance the delivery of education in their campuses.

The ICT team of CPSC was tasked to assist the team in the whole duration of their benchmarking activity in the College.
