A delegation of 15 officials and TVET directors from the Philippines’ North Province of the Salesians of St. John Bosco (Don Bosco Schools) visited CPSC in Manila on August 1, 2013 to explore possible collaboration with CPSC.
The delegation was led by Don Bosco Schools and TVET Centers Supervisor Fr. Onofre G. Inocencio, Jr. SDB. Don Bosco schools are known for providing quality and state-of-the-art technical education. Their commitment to TVET makes them a very important institution in the holistic development of the youth in the Philippines. For half a century, Don Bosco schools have been honing the skills of young Filipinos in mechanics, electronics, automotive to name a few.
The Director General, Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub led the CPSC team in receiving the delegation. Briefers about CPSC and the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) were presented to the delegation to give them a glimpse of the services of CPSC. The Director General went on to deliver a short presentation about the role, programs, services and benefits of CPSC to inform them further of the current programs and activities of CPSC.

Discussions on possible collaborative activities and engagements between the two institutions ensued, whereby the Don Bosco delegation expressed their desire for active local and international linkages through joint activities with CPSC. At this point, the creation of a Memorandum of Understanding between CPSC and Don Bosco was suggested to formally establish ties. During the discussion, both parties were able to identify possible areas of cooperation, one of which is through accreditation. Don Bosco schools recognize the significance of a regional accreditation body such as APACC and conveyed their interest to submit themselves to APACC accreditation process. Another possible area of cooperation identified focuses on leadership training among TVET Directors of Don Bosco. Other areas identified include research, and activities on social entrepreneurship and poverty alleviation through the Skills Development for Poverty Alleviation program.
