» » CPSC, TESDA Region IX partner with MinTVET Association, hold “Seminar-Workshop on Quality Management System for TVET Institutions of Mindanao”


The Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC) and the Philippines’ Technical Education & Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Region IX partnered with the Mindanao TVET Association (MinTVET) in conducting a Seminar-Workshop on Quality Management System for TVET Institutions of Mindanao from April 26 to 27, 2013 at Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City, Philippines.

A total of 107 participants, mostly head of TVET/TESDA schools across the Mindanao region, attended the seminar.  Ms. Irene Floro, President of MinTVET officially opened the seminar-workshop proper. She welcomed the CPSC delegation headed by Dr. Godelyn G. Hisole, Faculty Specialist, CPSC, TESDA Region IX team and all the participants to Zamboanga. She conveyed her appreciation for the budding partnership through the seminar and wishes strengthened cooperation and future collaborative activities with both CPSC and TESDA.

CPSC provided full information on the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) during the seminar.  Dr. Hisole as CPSC Resource Speaker highlighted the objectives, activities and benefits of accreditation system of TVET institutions in the Philippines, in sharing gainful insights to the attendees in view of their preparation and implementation of a quality-assured TVET through accreditation. Other valuable knowledge regarding accreditation was imparted by Dr. Hisole through her paper titled “The Basics of Quality, Imperatives of Quality TVET and Voluntary Accreditation with APACC”.

Other resource speakers were: Dr. Lorenzo Macapili, TESDA Region IX Regional Director who lectured on “Application of Quality Management System in TVET”; Dr. MarycelEngracia, Past Chair, MinTVET, who discussed about the topic on “Corporate Governance and Quality TVET; while Mr. Anthony Napay, Lead ISO Auditor, ABS – QE, delivered his lecture on “Applications of Continuous Improvement Cycle Models to TVET Organizations”.

Dr. Engracia was pleased to note about the relevant information shared during the seminar and commended the organizing teams in holding a very timely program. She said that the event ended with a successful conduct of the workshop with more than one third (38 out of 107) who joined the APACC preparation group among three groups formed.
