With the challenges of globalization
and rapid technological change, the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) in
collaboration with the National
Institute of Technical Teachers’ Training and Research (NITTTR) - Chennai,
teamed up to conduct an In-Country Program (ICP) on “Web-based Teaching and
Learning System” held from December 17-22, 2012 in Chennai, India.
The
program was supervised by CPSC Director General Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub and
Prof. Dr. S. Mohan, Director of NITTTR – Chennai. CPSC Faculty Specialist,
Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam coordinated the program, complemented by the Local
Coordinator, Dr. G. Kulanthaivel, Associate Professor of Electronics
Engineering of NITTTR – Chennai.
The inauguration held on December 18, 2012 was
graced by Dr. Anil Kumar Nassa, Deputy Education Adviser of Department of
Higher Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India,
to deliver an inspirational message.

A total of 28 participants from different academic staff members and managers of
technical and vocational education and training (TVET) institutions and
representatives of other public and private sector organizations attended the
six-day program. An International Seminar participated by at least
10 countries themed “ICT for Education and Training” is being held today December
21, 2012 in conjunction with this program.

Roster of Speakers include Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Dr. G.
Kulanthaivel, and Mr. Felix Sibal, Multimedia Developer and CPSC ICT Officer.
The ICP provided an opportunity for the
participants to know the different innovative web-enabled ICT practices,
E-learning authoring tools, software and technologies and E-Teaching and
Learning systems. It also aimed to provide resources, ideas, strategies to
help those involved in the training and development to meet the learning needs
of the various institutions using teaching and training techniques,
facilitation, and development activities in TVET system.
