» » » CPSC’s Special In-Country Program on SDPA commences in Malaysia

Marking 7th CPSC-India SDPA Special In-Country Program, CPSC recently concluded the latest SDPA on Champion Leaders Development Program for TVET Skills for Employability conducted from November 26 to 30, 2012 at the Hotel Seri Malaysia, Perlis. Malaysia is the latest beneficiary among the beneficiary-countries of this milestone project of CPSC-Government of India.

Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, CPSC Director General in his welcome remarks, expressed his great appreciation to the Ministry of Higher Education (MohE), the Department of Polytechnic Education (DPE) and the Department of Community Colleges Education for their facilitation in jointly conducting this program. He also thanked the Government of India for providing the grant that supports this program. Dr. Naim emphasized the need for the participants to understand the program content well and to create the multiplier or knock-on effect of the program so that the pool of beneficiaries and experts can be expanded. In this way, the program can be seen to benefit more people and achieve a greater outreach.

Overall supervision was handled by Dr. Naim with Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam, CPSC Faculty Specialist, as Program Coordinator and main Resource Person. Mej (K) Md. Nor Yusof, Director General DPE, also provided co-supervision, together with Ms. Jamaliah from the same department. Twenty-eight (28) participants from the polytechnics and community colleges of Malaysia attended the program.

The program imparted current perspectives on TVET Skills for employability through social entrepreneurship as well as challenges and issues in promoting entrepreneurship; and elaborated key concepts on higher order thinking skills; designing TVET skills modular program and instructional material and business planning and budgeting. Above details were discussed under three main modules namely, Promoting TVET Skills for Employability; Generic Skills for Employability and Stimulating Technical and Social Entrepreneurship Skills.

Special song and dance performances by the Lecturers and students from Politeknik Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin and Community College, Perlis highlighted the special dinner in honor of the participants and guests.

A National Seminar titled Building Skills for Employability: Trends and Perspectives, was held on November 28, 2012 at Polytechnic Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin, Perlis, in conjunction with this Special SDPA In-Country Program (see related story 103 Participants…). The seminar successfully gathered a total of 103 participants.
