» » CPSC DG visits RMUTT Thailand, seeks collaboration

On March 14, 2012, Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, Director General, CPSC, paid a visit to CPSC’s long-time ally, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT) in Thailand. He met the University President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Numyoot Songthanapitak and other university officials led by Dr.Paiboon Saiyawongs, Assistant for International Relations cum Vice Dean of Academic, Faculty of Business Administration.

Dr. Naim updated them about a program of CPSC with the Government of Thailand in Angthong Technical College that is taking place from March 12-16, 2012. He also briefed them about future plans to jointly organize a Regional Program in Thailand during the year with the Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC) and planned annual collaborative program of CPSC with the Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA). The said programs were discussed in a prior meeting held last year with OVEC Secretary General and TICA officials which CPSC is following through proactively.

Dr. Naim is in Thailand for the conduct of an In-Country Program titled “Entrepreneurship Education in TVET”.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Songthanapitak noted with interest the various programs of CPSC with the Government of Thailand which represent mutual efforts to strengthen cooperation. In the past, CPSC had organized various regional, in-country and customized programs with the Government in collaboration with OVEC and RMUTT.

Dr. Naim also briefed the RMUTT officials of the various capacity building opportunities that may be availed by Thai nationals in CPSC which include, among others, courses tailor-made for students and teachers and professional staff development through engagement as part of CPSC’s academic pool in which valuable international and academic experiences could be gained. Dr. Saiyawongs noted the same with interest and expressed RMUTT’s desire to explore possible opportunities in future.

Both parties reaffirmed mutual commitment and conveyed desire to continue successful collaborations enjoyed for many years. The meeting ended with a tour around RMUTT campus, home to 24,000 students in various technology disciplines.
